really short.
ok. not blogging a lot. just have to note that i just got back from watching a whole colony (over 130) tiny (30 cm high) blue penguins go from the ocean where they were feeding all day to their nest boxes with tiny fluffy brown chicks waiting and chirping away for them. ohmigosh. so cute. i could barely contain my high pitched "awwww"s. but i would have scared them away. so i just pulled the sleeping bag tighter around me.
also today there were yellow-eyed penguins (solitary creatures), a whole colony of fur seals, elephant seals, or sea lions (too far away to tell and i don't know the difference anyway), and more lambs and sheep than i could EVER imagine possible. so many. everywhere you look. the landscape is covered with tiny white dots. baa.
ok. that's all for now. more soon. our time here is suddenly very limited. we have tonight in oamaru, tomorrow in timaru, and then monday night in christchurch and we fly to sydney tuesday. sad times for leaving new zealand. but it's been great here. i have so much i feel like i'm about to write (tons has happened since last i wrote,
naturally), but i'm going to be good and try to get some sleep. penguins stay up LATE.
in any case, happy holidays to you all, and a happy new year (though i'll be writing again before then surely).
baa.

matt- i dig the new format. simple and to the point. and no comments about amy on the glacier? i'm disappointed.
emily- i was listening to my mp3s on shuffle and got to the martin concert. damn that was good.

Amy girl, this is so fantastic. I am envious. What a thrill. Stay well and keep having fun. Love, Barbara
Oh, all that wondrous wildlife. Just like here at home, with the squirrels and chipmonks. It all sounds fabulous.
So far, everywhere you've gone, you've had a hard time leaving! Isn't it great that you're enjoying each place so much. Of course, you never did have an easy time with "moving on to the next activity", as your nursery school evaluation pointed out. You are who you are, and I love who you are and what you're doing.
Hugs to Nabia and Jordana.
Much love, mom
You are having soooooo much fun and learning sooooo much, toooooo.
Cool.
Fred B. may write to you here or at e-mail. He is my college frat brother from URI who lives outside Miami in Coral Gables (and also North Carolina). He also knows your Mom and Dad. Anyway, he and his wife, Karen, are going to Australia (stop-over in Seoul) and New Zealand. Australia first around 1/6/05. Told him to read your blogs - he, too, finds them fascinating and may try to contact you in Australia. Good people.
Regards to the "gang" and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Uncle baaaa, I mean B.
Amy Amy Amy,
Who knew you were such a wonderful writer? I am loving this blog...it is so expressive and descriptive, and like having you here to talk to (which I miss, by the way). I'm so impressed by everything you are doing, I'm basically speechless. I'm sending a big hug, and also my regards to Nabia.
Love,
Em

P.P.S New Years will be strange without you, but know that you are definitely in our thoughts. Happy 2005!
