superfast - like a wallaby
hey there - just a quick note until i get a chance to write the SCADS of stuff i have to tell you all about. We've made it all the way down to Tasmania. I am in tasMANIA. chaos, i tell you. it looks like it's beautiful down here (just flew in this morning so i can't say for sure yet), and we're staying in another servas house (our third now - getting to be pros), although they're not quite what the book says. i think there was a typo of sorts... i'll explain later. anyhow, we're here for about a week and then back to Melbourne for the Great Ocean Road then Ayer's Rock for the "it's so hot i'm melting" portion then over to Cairns and the Gold Coast and the Great Barrier Reef for the "look at nemo" portion while we work our way back to sydney.
We extended our stay here - not leaving until February 20something, so that gives us some more time to mosey along. And Southeast asia some more time to recover.
things to come: Deaf stuff, folk music, Aboriginal walk (very helpful - i feel better now), and a late night at a club last night. good times, yo. i really like melbourne. my favorite city in oz so far, i think. many more to see though.
ok. my 20 minutes are just about up. i hope to elaborate very soon.
hoping all is well in your worlds and wanting to hear about it,
love,
amy

Hey - I forgot to warn you about something in Uluru (Ayers Rock). THE FLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like you have never seen or heard before. When they are not in your eyes, they are attempting entry up the nose, but when all else fails they will dive bomb and hover around your ears. (One of the signs around the Rock says to sit back and listen to the quiet and serenity of the area. Quiet and serenity - hardly - I could hear lots of BUZZZZZZZZZZ.) If you are really lucky, you'll get some free protein. When I complained to the residents of the area they just laugh at me. Apparently as the season progresses they get much worse so you guys will really be attacked. A word to the wise - invest in the $5 fly net hat attachment thingys. They may not add much to the look - but they will add to your enjoyment and help keep your mental sanity! Absent that - it was a beautiful place and I recommend taking the Anangu Tours. You'll get to hear some of the Aboriginal legends about the Rock told in the native language and translated into English by another guide.
